Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about MedBillResolve, medical billing disputes, and how our platform works.

What is MedBillResolve?+

MedBillResolve is a self-help document automation platform that generates professional medical billing dispute packets. You answer guided questions about your medical bill, upload supporting documentation, and our system produces a dispute letter, itemized bill request, insurance appeal (if applicable), and action plan. We are a document automation tool — not a law firm, medical billing advocacy service, or licensed professional service of any kind.

How long does the process take?+

The entire process typically takes 15 to 30 minutes. You will spend about 5-10 minutes answering questions about your situation, 5-10 minutes uploading documentation, and a few minutes reviewing your generated packet. Your progress is saved automatically, so you can take breaks and return at any time.

Is this legal advice or medical billing advice?+

No. MedBillResolve is not a law firm, not a medical billing advocate, and does not provide legal, medical, or financial advice. We are a self-help document automation platform. The documents we generate are informational tools to assist you in your dispute, but they are not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney or certified medical billing advocate. We provide publicly available information about consumer protections, but we do not tell you what to do — we give you tools to advocate for yourself. If you need professional advice specific to your situation, we recommend consulting a licensed attorney or certified billing advocate in your state.

What types of medical billing disputes can this help with?+

MedBillResolve can help with a range of medical billing issues including billing errors, overcharges, surprise or balance bills, services not received, insurance not applied, coding errors, lack of itemization, price transparency violations, and bills that have been sent to collections. You select the type of dispute during the intake process and our system tailors the documents accordingly.

What if my bill has been sent to collections?+

MedBillResolve can help even if your bill is in collections. The CFPB has highlighted that collection on unsubstantiated or invalid medical debts — including double billing, inflated charges, and upcoding — is a recognized consumer harm. Your dispute packet includes information about your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), including your right to request debt validation within 30 days of first contact. Your action plan covers how to respond to collection agencies and dispute the debt. If a bill is in collections, we recommend acting quickly and considering consulting a licensed attorney for advice specific to your situation.

Can I get a refund?+

Yes. We offer a 24-hour money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your dispute packet for any reason, contact us within 24 hours of purchase and we will issue a full refund with no questions asked. You do not pay anything until your packet is generated and ready to download, so you can complete the entire intake process for free before deciding to purchase.

What documentation do I need?+

The most helpful documentation includes your medical bill, explanation of benefits (EOB) from your insurer, any itemized statements, communication with the provider's billing department, and insurance correspondence (denial letters, coverage documents). That said, even having just your bill is enough to get started. Our packet includes a formal request for an itemized statement, which is your right as a patient.

How is AI used in the process?+

AI is used to organize the facts of your situation and generate customized correspondence. Rather than filling in a generic template, the AI drafts letters tailored to the specifics of your case, referencing applicable consumer protections. It also structures your documentation and creates a step-by-step action plan. All AI-generated content references established consumer protection laws and statutes — it does not fabricate citations. The documents include a disclosure that they were generated using a self-help document automation tool.

How is my personal data protected?+

We take data privacy seriously. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Your personal information and uploaded documents are stored on secure AWS infrastructure and are only used to generate your dispute packet. We do not sell your data to third parties. Payment is processed securely through Stripe — we never see or store your full credit card number. You can request deletion of your data at any time. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Does the No Surprises Act apply to my situation?+

The No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022) protects patients from surprise medical bills in many situations, including emergency services at out-of-network facilities and non-emergency services by out-of-network providers at in-network facilities. Our system references the No Surprises Act and applicable state laws when relevant to your situation. However, we do not provide legal opinions on whether specific laws apply to your case — for that, consult a licensed attorney.

What if the provider does not respond to my dispute?+

Your dispute packet includes an action plan that covers this scenario. If the provider does not respond within a reasonable timeframe, the action plan provides information about escalation options, including filing complaints with your state insurance commissioner, state attorney general, or the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). For complex situations, we recommend consulting a licensed attorney.

Do I need to create an account?+

Yes, a free account is required so we can save your progress and deliver your packet. You can complete the entire intake process — answering questions and uploading documentation — before paying anything. You only pay when your packet is ready and you choose to download it. Pricing starts at $29 for Quick Dispute or $49 for the Full Packet. Creating an account takes less than a minute.
